The Sound of Ebb has asked to submit a sound or a song/tune in relation to the current recession, so called Sound of Recession.

I’ve called my tune “here and there” because in the time of recession you don’t where you are with your feelings and emotions (how long the recession will last or on a sunny day everything seems to be fine etc.). “here and there” explores musically these different states of emotions.

Last night I went to see the movie called “Echoes of home – Heimatklänge” in the ICA, a documentary about Swiss yodeling.

This documentary portraits three musicians in a very interesting and compelling way. The editing between the shots of the movie are good and there are beautiful and picturesque shots of the Swiss Alps and its landscape. The story is told from three musicians in a witty and attentive way.

The three Swiss musicians are;

Christian Zehnder, Noldi Alder and Erika Stucky

Honestly, after the movie I’ve felt a resonance in my chest and started a bit yodeling in the streets of London.

Piano was my second instrument I’ve learned to play music. Most of my tunes I create on a piano and continue to develop them on the computer.

Ideas come and go quickly and they are always fragile. To catch and keep them and make them alive is like to look at the right moment when a drop has its perfect shape during its free fall.

Simple and dreamy tune. Goes on and on.

This short tune is called “South” and it should give a uplifting feeling, with an easy melody to whistle along. I’ve started this tune out of fun and during the composing progress I’ve moved my hips to this tune. I hope you will as well.

This tune is a motif for a character for a short movie, which I’ve composed for a pitch. The story goes like this:

19 year old Jiera, a Lithuanian, rescued victim of trafficking, as she struggles to come to terms with her situation and experiences. Jiera faces impossible dilemma of whether to stay in the UK where she has been subject to prolonged physical and psychological abuse, or risk returning to her own country where she faces immediate and life-threatening danger from her abusive Stepfather and the criminal gang that trafficked her.

This tune was a pitch for a short movie. The story is about a couple, who almost break up after reading the terrible newspaper headlines about Palestine. She is from Lebanon and he is from Israel. The director was looking for a motif which starts out with a jazzy feel and ends up laden with an atmosphere of disaster. I wanted to thank Christoph Flueler for playing the trumpet on this tune. Thanks Kriz!
